UPDATE - VOLUNTARY WITHDRAWAL OF PRODUCTS
To Our Valued Customers and Community
Many of you would be aware of the recent CHOICE testing of 20 ARTG listed sunscreens, which has drawn attention to industry-wide inconsistencies in SPF testing. As part of an ongoing investigation, the TGA has expressed concerns regarding the reliability of testing protocols used by an independent laboratory responsible for assessing most of Australia’s leading sunscreen brands.
As a cautionary measure we have made the difficult but voluntary decision to withdraw our two products from sale and have advised our stockists of this action. This is not a recall, and we are working closely with the TGA, our manufacturer and industry partners to determine if any further action is required.
It is important to us that you know we hold all necessary approvals, thorough testing results and verification from our manufacturer, and we have always been in full compliance with TGA regulatory requirements. Your health and safety is the most important thing to us, so we continue to work with the TGA and our manufacturer to welcome any measures that further enhance consumer trust and bring greater consistency and transparency to sunscreen testing and regulation.
Our mission is to protect children and families (including our own) from the harsh Australian sun, which was the driving force behind the creation of New Day Skin. We are shocked by these developments and feel deeply let down by the industry standards that have guided us. It greatly concerns us that we have unintentionally let down our families, our friends, our team and most importantly you, our valued customer. For that, we sincerely apologise.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email.
With heartfelt gratitude for your understanding and support during this very difficult time,
Ange and Jo
